Overview
What makes this destination worth the journey.
The AMK trek, widely called the toughest trek in the Sahyadris - three linked forts with vertical rock patches needing ropes and climbing skill.
Alang, Madan and Kulang - together 'AMK' - stand above 4,800 feet in the Kalsubai range of Nashik district and make up the most demanding trek in Maharashtra. Reaching all three involves exposed ledge traverses, vertical rock patches climbed with ropes, and rappelling, so it is strictly a guided, multi-day expedition for fit, experienced trekkers with mountaineering gear. Madan's near-vertical wall is often called the hardest of the three. The reward is remote, rarely-crowded high country and huge Sahyadri views.
