Overview
What makes this destination worth the journey.
A 13 km descending jungle trek through the 'dark dense forest' of the Tamhini Ghats, ending at the Bhira backwaters.
Andharban means 'dark dense forest' in Marathi, and the trek lives up to it - a mostly downhill walk of about 13 km through thick evergreen canopy connecting Pimpri village near Tamhini Ghat to the Bhira Dam backwaters in the Konkan. Because it descends from around 2,100 feet rather than climbing, it is beginner-friendly, though long. In the monsoon the forest fills with mist, streams and waterfalls over the Kundalika valley, which is when most agencies run it, between July and October.
