Overview
What makes this destination worth the journey.
A rugged hill fort famous for the Konkan Kada cliff, an ancient temple and a Ganesh cave, popular for overnight camping treks.
Harishchandragad sits at about 1,422 m near Malshej Ghat and is one of the most loved multi-day treks in the Sahyadris. Its centrepiece is Konkan Kada, a huge concave cliff that drops sheer into the Konkan and is spectacular at sunset and in swirling monsoon cloud. The fort also holds the 11th-century Harishchandreshwar temple, the Kedareshwar cave with a submerged Shivling, and Taramati peak. Several routes of differing difficulty lead up, so agencies grade it from moderate to tough.
